Very thorough survey conducted by Gardner Surveyors thank you. As a result we avoided a creaking house with asbestos purchase! Reliable, quick and reasonable price.

Andrew completed a Preliminary Homebuyers Survey and immediately set our minds at rest. The report gave us the confidence to know that the movement we were experiencing was within tolerance and was not likely to cause any undue conditions. We have no hesitation in recommending his services to family, friends and business acquaintances.

James Wallis, AllPoint Consulting

I have used Gardner Surveyors on two occasions to undertake surveys on my house purchases. I wouldn’t even consider using anyone else, and frequently recommend Andrew to anyone looking to instruct a surveyor. Andrew is great to deal with, easy to contact, and responds quickly to any query. He leaves no stone unturned and clearly explains his findings without jargon, so you fully understand.

Joanne Walton

Fantastic service from the team from start to finish. So professional and they got our project off the ground with no fuss when without them we quite simply could not have done it. Would highly recommend their services

Damp and the resultant mould are caused by excess moisture. Sometimes this can be easily remedied – for example, steam from a shower room causing patches of mould in an adjacent bedroom. But more often it can be an indication of something more serious such as rising damp caused by a damaged membrane. Gardner & Co will carry out a damp survey and advise on the best course of remedial action.

Contrary to popular opinion, subsidence is often easily remedied, and it is only on rare occasions that a property will need to be underpinned. More often when the tell – tale signs of subsidence are spotted – such as cracks in the wall or doors and windows sticking, this has been caused by the walls or ceilings swelling and shrinking due to temperature fluctuations. This is most common in new homes and can also be part of a settling process. However, it is important to be sure, because there are many potential causes, and that is where we can help. Call Gardner & Co to assess the reasons for your tell tale signs – the worst thing you can do is ignore it!

Heave is the opposite of subsidence and thankfully it is rare. It is caused by the expansion of the ground and is often linked to clay soils which have the potential to swell when wet. The signs of a heave are like those for subsidence. Cracks in walls and around windows and doors. Don’t take chances if you are concerned. Call in an expert such as Gardner & Co to assess your situation and identify the cause.

If you are in the process of buying a property, your survey will include an assessment of any infestations that the property may have, and these will include signs of woodworm or beetles in your timberwork. Gardner & Co will also look for evidence of vermin including rats and mice both of which can be hugely destructive to the fabric of a property.

If you are concerned that you might have a dry rot or wet rot issue, then please don’t ignore it. If these conditions are not treated at an early stage, then severe damage can be caused. DIY treatments are possible but if you want true peace of mind you will need to bring in specialists such as Gardner & Co to assess the full extent of the issue and recommend remedial action.
